Gold Shovel Standard® (GSS) is a nonprofit organization focused on improving workforce and public safety, as well as the quality of buried infrastructure. Buried infrastructure includes electric, gas, pipelines, telecommunications, sewage, and water. If your business is in one of these industries, you are probably familiar with Gold Shovel Standard®.

The 2021 Costs for Gold Shovel Standard® Membership are as follows:

Gas and Electric $2400 per year
Pipeline $2400 per year
Water and Sewer $1500 – $2400 per year for private entities in a municipality

If the fee presents a hardship, then the company may present a Hardship Waiver.

Excavators $75 – $200 per month, depending on the size of the company. Excavators are billed annually.
Municipalities $1500 per year

If the fee presents a hardship, then the company may present a Hardship Waiver.
